Habituated chimpanzees are one of the main attractions on Uganda's game walks. Its estimated that there are over 800 chimps in the Budongo forest reserve in Murchisson falls National park alone. Chimp habituation is a difficult exercise because they move extensively in search of seasonal fruiting trees which are fresh and tasty food. . They usually gather in large groups to share large discoveries of food such as figtree fruits. Chimpanzees weave a simple mesh of branches into the fork of the fork of the higher branches of a tree particularly to be safe from predators like lions. The best sighting for chimpanzees is during a forest walk where one is able to come upclose to the primates.
